Inspiration / Inspiratie

What is your essence of Summer? What smells, or weather or feelings makes you say: ‘Ah, now it’s Summer’? For me it could be many things, like the smell of sunscreen, or the plastic smell of an inflatable swimming pool, or buzzing bees in blooming lavender, the salty earthlike smell of petrichor when it finally rains after a long drought or thunderclouds on a humid day.
Wat is jouw essentie van de zomer? Welke geuren, welk weer of gevoel maakt dat je zegt: ‘Ah, NU is het zomer’? Voor mij kunnen dat zoveel dingen zijn, zoals de geur van zonnebrandcrème, of die van plastic van een opblaasbaar zwembad, de zoemende bijen in de bloeiende lavendel, de zoute aardse geur van petrichor wanneer het eindelijk regent na een lange periode van droogte, of onweer op een klamme warme dag.

Essence of Summer wrap

All those things made me think about trying to capture the essence of Summer in a wrap. And that’s what I want to show you today : )
Al die dingen maakte dat ik de essentie van de zomer wilde proberen te vangen in een omslagdoek en dat is wat ik je vandaag wil laten zien : )

Yarn / Garen

I am making two versions in different yarns, as you could read about in my last blogpost.
One colorway is inspired by the vanishing evening sun reflecting pink on the floating clouds against the dark blue sky. I used Scheepjes Organicon* in pink and blue for this colorway. The pink color is called Apple Blossom (no. 207) and the blue color is called Fresh Air (no. 217).
The second colorway is inspired by Summer rainshowers when the sun is still out and the sunlight is reflecting on all the big drops of rain, casting a golden glow in the air. I used Scheepjes Bamboo Soft* for this colorway in the colors Golden Nugget (no. 260) and Antique Silver (no. 264).
Ik maak twee versies in verschillende garens, waar je in mijn vorige blogpost al over kon lezen.
Eén kleurcombinatie is geïnspireerd door de ondergaande avondzon die roze reflecteert op de voorbijgaande wolken tegen de donkerblauwe lucht. Ik heb hiervoor Scheepjes Organicon* gebruikt in roze en blauw. De roze kleur heet Apple Blossom (kleur 207) en de blauwe kleur heet Fresh Air (kleur 217).
De tweede kleurcombinatie is geïnspireerd door zomerse buien wanneer de zon nog steeds schijnt en reflecteert tegen de grote regendruppels, waardoor er een gouden gloed in de lucht ontstaat. Ik gebruik hiervoor Scheepjes Bamboo Soft* in de kleuren Golden Nugget (kleur 260) en Antique Silver (kleur 264).

The design / Het ontwerp

The wrap uses three different sections to reflect three different instances where it makes me feel it is truly Summer. I will tell you more about that when the wrap is fully revealed ; )
De omslagdoek heeft drie verschillende secties om drie verschillende momenten weer te geven waarvan ik echt het gevoel heb dat het zomer is. Ik zal je er meer over vertellen wanneer ik de hele omslagdoek laat zien ; )

Facebook live

The wrap will be revealed in two weeks and then I will tell you everything about the wrap and its stitches. On the 1st of August the pattern will be released for free on my blog. And I will also offer a PDF version for a small fee. So far nothing different, right?
This time I will also host a Facebook live, so I can show you the wrap in person, tell you all about its inspiration and give you the opportunity to ask questions : D
I am very excited and quite nervous to do a Facebook live and I hope you’ll join me! More info about the date and time will be released at a later date.

Het eindresultaat van de hele omslagdoek zal ik over twee weken laten zien en dan zal ik je ook alles over de omslagdoek en de steken vertellen. Op 1 augustus zal het patroon dan uitgebracht worden. Je kunt hem dan gratis op mijn blog vinden, of voor een klein bedrag een PDF versie aanschaffen. Tot zover niks nieuws, toch?
Deze keer zal ik ook een Facebook live houden waarbij ik je de omslagdoek in persoon kan laten zien, je kan vertellen over de inspiratie en je de gelegenheid geven om vragen te stellen (in het Engels of Nederlands) : D
Ik heb er enorm veel zin en maar ik ben ook wel zenuwachtig om een Facebook live te doen. Ik hoop dat je me komt opzoeken als het zover is! Meer info over de dag en tijd zal later worden gegeven.
