Below you will find more info regarding the inspiration for this part and some tutorial photos to help you in your crochet journey!

Welkom bij de vijfde blogpost van de officiële 2020 Scheepjes CAL – d’Histoire Naturelle. Ik geloof dat het vorige deel een echte uitdaging is geweest, maar ik weet zeker dat je alsnog hebt genoten van je bezoek : ) In dit vijfde deel bezoeken we de prachtige Grande Galerie l’Evolution. Hieronder vind je wat meer info over de inspiratie voor dit deel en een aantal tutorial foto’s om je te helpen in je haakavontuur!

The Story / Het Verhaal

The Grande Galerie is very impressive to wander around in with more than 7000 lifelike species. Although it is only mentioned once in the book, All The Light We Cannot See, I thought it very inspirational and I wanted it to be a part of the blanket. The crochet stitches are inspired by the procession of giant mammals in the main hall, such as elephants, giraffes and rhinos and also inspired by the open space staircases and walkways along the walls of the Galerie.

De Grande Galerie is erg indrukwekkend om in rond te lopen met meer dan 7000 levensechte diersoorten. En ook al wordt hij in het boek, Als Je Het Licht Niet Kunt zien, maar één keer genoemd, ik vond het er erg inspirerend uit zien en daarom wilde ik hem jullie niet onthouden. De gehaakte steken zijn geïnspireerd door de processie van grote zoogdieren in de grote hal, zoals olifanten, giraffen en neushoorns en ook geïnspireerd door de grote open trappen en wandelgangen langs de wanden van de Galerie.

The Blanket / De Deken

In part 5 the square shape is finalized by working two elephants on each side of the blanket in between the corner shapes, which are inspired by the great procession displayed at the Galerie. After that a big border is made, inspired by the architecture and balustrades along the Galerie walls.
In deel 5 wordt de vierkante vorm van de deken afgemaakt door twee olifanten aan elke zijde tussen de hoekdelen, geïnspireerd door de grote processie die tentoongesteld is in de Galerij. Daarna wordt een hoge rand gemaakt, geïnspireerd door de architectuur en de balustrades langs de wanden van de galerij.

Below you can find a few tips and photos for some (but not all) of the rounds for the possibly tricky bits, which can help you in your journey. But please note it is not a substitute for the written pattern. While the written pattern is also available in US terms, the English terms below are UK terminology, as the original Scheepjes pattern terminology is also UK terms.

Hieronder vind je wat tips en foto’s voor sommige (niet alle) rondes die misschien wat lastiger zijn, om je te helpen in dit haakavontuur. Maar let op dat dit geen vervanging is voor het geschreven patroon.

2: First 3 dtr. Please note the photo shows it going into the cluster, but you need to work in the space between the dtr and the cluster. / Eerste 3 dst. Let op dat de foto laat zien dat deze in de cluster worden gehaakt, terwijl je in de ruimte tussen het laatste dst en de cluster moet haken.
