Looking back on the 2020 Scheepjes CAL / Terugkijken op de Scheepjes CAL 2020

How special it is to see people working on something you’ve created. Something that didn’t exist before you started it. How special is that? I am always in wonder about how we, as creative crafters, can make something from nothing. So I’d like to take you with me through some of the wonderful creations I saw during and after the 2020 Scheepjes CAL: d’Histoire Naturelle.

Hoe speciaal is het om mensen te zien werken aan iets wat jij hebt gecreëerd? Iets dat niet bestond voordat je het begon. Hoe speciaal is dat? Ik zit altijd vol verwondering te denken over hoe wij, als creatieve makers, iets kunnen maken vanuit niets. Dus daarom neem ik je graag mee door sommige van de prachtige creaties die ik heb gezien tijdens en na de Scheepjes CAL 2020: d’Histoire Naturelle.

It was wonderful to see that people were very excited about the bees. Some even gave them cute little stripes, making them almost buzz off of the blanket!
Het wat super leuk om te zien dat mensen enthousiast werden over de bijen. Sommigen gaven ze zelfs schattige strepen, waardoor ze bijna van de deken af leken te zoemen!

And after the bees, it was time to work on the butterflies so many people were fond off <3 People got really creative with the coloring. Making them all the same or totally different, or even true to nature : D
En na de bijen was het tijd om te werken aan de vlinders waar zoveel mensen gek op waren <3 Men werd erg creatief met de kleuren. Door ze helemaal hetzelfde te maken of totaal verschillend, of zelf natuurgetrouw : D

But even botanical lovers got their share. I saw the most wonderful leaves emerge when we worked on part 3 : )
Maar zelfs de liefhebbers van botanica werden niet vergeten. Ik zag de mooiste blaadjes voorbij komen toen we aan deel 3 werkten : )

In part 4, the complicated-looking mineral corners were looming, but with the help of Esther’s videos everyone did an amazing job (you can find the tutorial videos here)! Some even used the corners of the 2019 CAL for this blanket, which was very creative!
In deel 4 werden we opgewacht door die ingewikkeld uitziende mineraal-hoeken, maar met behulp van Esther’s video’s is het iedereen heel goed gelukt (vind de video’s hier)! Sommigen hebben zelfs de hoeken van de 2019 CAL gebruikt, erg creatief!

After everyone sighed with relief that the corners weren’t that hard at all, it was time to look forward to those cute elephants. Many made them with extra ears, so they looked larger than life!
Nadat iedereen een zucht van verlichting slaakte dat de hoeken toch niet zo moeilijk waren als ze eruit zagen, was het tijd uit te kijken naar die schattige olifantjes. Velen hebben ze zelfs met extra oren gemaakt, zodat ze er levensecht uitzien!

The thing I enjoyed seeing most of all, were all the different color combinations you chose, and boy, there was a lot to be seen! From nature inspired or Christmas versions, to Scheepjes Whirl gradient blankets. And from romantic earthly colors to bold and vibrant combinations. It was impossible for me to pick these, but I tried to make a selection. There are many more to be found in the Scheepjes Facebook group if you’re looking for color inspiration : )
Wat ik het leukste vond om te zien waren al de verschillende zelfgekozen kleurcombinaties, en jeetje, er was genoeg te zien! Van natuur-geïnspireerde of Kerst versies tot Scheepjes Whirl kleurverloop dekens. En van romantische aardse kleuren tot gedurfde en levendige combinaties. Het was haast onmogelijk een selectie te maken, maar ik heb mijn best gedaan. Je kunt er nog veel meer vinden in de Scheepjes Facebook groep als je zoekt naar kleur-inspiratie : )

It was a journey I will never forget. Which is great if you want to start your own CAL blanket after reading this post, which I totally understand : D
