Weet je nog toen ik laatst blogde over mijn Scheepjes Whirl en Whirlette* combinatie? Het is nu eindelijk tijd je te laten zien wat ik ermee heb gemaakt: de Glowing Leaf Shawl. Als je echt niet kunt wachten en het patroon NU moet hebben, het patroon is te koop op Etsy en Ravelry.

Inspiration/Inspiratie

Spring is upon us. I see branches full with buds so it won’t be long until they unfold their soft leaves to reveal their first colors and release their subtle scent <3
I am enamored by all the different processes that Nature shows us so elegantly. The growth, the shifting hues from fresh green to warm yellow to bright red. And at last, a caramel brown, just before falling to the ground, where they decompose. Giving their nutrients back to the soil and to the little creatures, fungi, lichen and mosses below. All in Nature is cyclical, it just goes on forever. There are a lot of things in life that are uncertain, but there’s one thing we can be sure about and that’s the cycle of Nature <3

The design is also part of the Poetry Collection. The pattern is therefore accompanied by a poem in the hopes that it gives more dimension to your crochet <3

De Lente staat voor de deur. Ik zie takken vol in de knop dus het zal niet lang meer duren voor ze hun zachte blaadjes ontvouwen om hun eerste kleuren te laten zien en hun subtiele geur te verspreiden <3
Ik kijk liefdevol naar alle verschillende processen die de Natuur ons laat zien. De groei, het verschuiven van kleuren van frisgroen naar warm geel naar felrood. En als laatste, een karamelbruin, net voor ze op de grond vallen, waar ze ontbinden. Hun grondstoffen teruggeven aan de bodem en aan alle kleine beestjes, schimmels en (korst)mossen eronder. Alles in de Natuur is cyclisch. Het gaat oneindig door. Er zijn veel dingen onzeker in het leven, maar er is één ding waar we zeker van kunnen zijn en dat is de cyclus van de Natuur <3

Het ontwerp is onderdeel van de Poetry Collectie. Het patroon gaat daarom vergezeld van een gedicht in de hoop dat het meer dimensie geeft aan je haakwerk <3

A continuous leaf pattern/Een herhalend blaadjes patroon

The shawl is designed using a continuous leaf pattern, worked with front post stitches. This gives a lovely texture and also shows off the Scheepjes Whirl gradient yarn* very well. You might recognize the leaves from the Scheepjes CAL 2020 blanket, as I used similar leaves in that design.
And even though this shawl is full of color, you don’t have to worry about a milion ends, as the yarn is carried up at the side, alternating between the two colors.

De shawl is gemaakt met een herhalend blaadjes patroon, gemaakt met reliëf steken. Dit geeft een prachtige textuur en laat het Scheepjes Whirl kleurverloop garen* goed tot zijn recht komen. Het kan zijn dat je de blaadjes herkent van de Scheepjes CAL 2020 deken, omdat ik vergelijkbare blaadjes in dat ontwerp heb gebruikt.
En ook al is deze shawl vol van kleur, je hoeft je gelukkig geen zorgen te maken over miljoenen eindjes, want het garen wordt meegenomen aan de zijkant van de shawl. Je wisselt daarbij steeds tussen de twee kleuren.

About the pattern/Over het patroon

• A written pattern in English US terms or Dutch/Een geschreven patroon in Engels (US) en Nederlands.
• Clear tutorial pictures for all the tricky bits/Duidelijke tutorial foto’s voor alle lastige delen.
• Crochet diagram for the full pattern repeat/Haakdiagram voor de volledige patroonherhaling.
• Choose between a printer friendly version to save paper or a nicely formatted version/Kies voor een printervriendelijke versie om papier te besparen of gebruik een mooi geformatteerde versie.
• Special stitches (US terms): front post stitches, crocheting front post stitches together with different lengths (all explained with photos and text)/Speciale steken: reliëf steken voor, reliëf steken voor samenhaken met verschillende lengtes (allemaal uitgelegd met foto’s en tekst).
• Special technique: carying yarn up the side, so you don’t have to cut yarn after each color change (explained with photos and text)/Garen meenemen aan de zijkant, zodat je je garen niet hoeft te knippen na elke kleurwissel (uitgelegd met foto’s en tekst).

Size/Maat

The shawl measures 97cm/38.8” at the widest point, 154cm/61.6” long at the straight side and 180cm/72” long at the diagonal side after blocking.
De shawl meet 97cm wijd, 154cm aan de rechte zijde en 180cm lang aan de schuine zijde na blocken.
